Cloud Call

Install Cloud Call on your computer

Two pieces: the dialer you make and take calls on, and a Chrome extension that turns phone numbers on any web page into a click that calls them.

Install the dialer first. The extension calls through it, so on its own it has nothing to dial with.
Step 1 · Required

Cloud Call Phone

The desktop dialer for Windows. Make and receive calls, see who is ringing, and keep your call history.

Download for Windows
Download start will take few moments
  1. Run the installer you just downloaded.
  2. Open Cloud Call Phone and sign in with the details your administrator gave you.
  3. Leave it running. It sits in your system tray and rings there.
Step 2 · Optional

Click to Dial for Google Chrome Extension

Finds phone numbers on any page, whether that is Shopify, your CRM or webmail, and makes them callable in one click.

The dialer installs it for you, so there is nothing to download here.

  1. Start menu, under Cloud Call Phone, click Chrome Extension Folder. Copy the path from Explorer's address bar.
  2. Open chrome://extensions in Chrome.
  3. Turn on Developer mode, top right.
  4. Click Load unpacked and paste that path.
  5. Windows Settings, Apps, Default apps, Choose default apps by protocol. Set TEL to Cloud Call Phone.
Do not move that folder. Chrome reads the extension from it every time it starts. Move or delete it and the extension stops working.

Installed the dialer before this page changed? Download the extension and unzip it somewhere permanent instead.

Using click to dial

Numbers on a page get a dotted underline and a small blue Cloud Call badge. Click one to call. The first time, Chrome asks whether to open Cloud Call Phone: tick Always allow.

If a number is missed, select it, right-click, and choose Call "…" with Cloud Call. Detection is deliberately careful. It would rather miss a real number than turn an order number into a phone link.

The toolbar icon turns detection off, hides the blue badge so only the underline shows, or sets the country code used for local numbers like 03001234567.

To skip the confirmation and have a clicked number ring straight away, open the dialer's settings with the gear icon and tick Dial straight away under Click to dial.

If something is not working

Clicking a number opens nothing, or Chrome offers to "Pick an application". Windows does not know that Cloud Call Phone is your phone app yet. This is the single most common problem, and it is a one-time setting on each computer.

  1. Open Cloud Call Phone and sign in. It has to have run once on this Windows account or it will not appear in the list below.
  2. Open Windows Settings, then Apps, then Default apps.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and click Choose default apps by protocol. Give the list a few seconds to fill.
  4. Scroll down to TEL.
  5. Click whatever is shown beside it and pick Cloud Call Phone.
  6. Close Chrome completely, then open it again.

TEL says Google Chrome. That is normal on a computer where nobody has set it. Chrome claims tel: for itself and then quietly does nothing with it, which is why the click appears to be ignored. Change it to Cloud Call Phone using the steps above.

It worked on another computer, but not this one. That setting belongs to the Windows user account, not to the installation. Every person does it once, on each computer they sign in to.

Clicking a number does nothing at all. Cloud Call Phone is not installed, or has never been opened. Open it once, then try again. If it is running and the click still does nothing, set TEL as above.

The dialer takes the number but stays behind the browser. Update to the latest dialer from the button at the top of this page. Older versions accepted the number without bringing their window forward.

No underlines appear. Reload the page. The extension only applies to pages opened after it was installed.

Dates or reference numbers turned into phone links. Update the extension. Reload it from the folder at chrome://extensions, or download it again from the link in Step 2.

Chrome warns about developer mode extensions. Dismiss it. Chrome shows that for anything installed outside its own store; the extension keeps working.
